Munich (ots) - The Munich company Yellow Bird Pictures has set its sights on the next big international co-production: the TV movie "Little Lady" (WT) is planned for 2011. According to Managing Director Oliver Schündler, Christiane Hörbiger has agreed to play the main role of the Countess of Dorincourt: "Christiane Hoerbiger is the ideal choice for this delightful new version of the timeless classic. 'The Little Lord' has inspired generations of TV viewers. We look forward to the challenge of retelling the story with director John Delbridge. "
"Little Lady" (WT) is based on the American script by Tanya Fenmore and Lavina Dawson. The TV production of Yellow Bird Pictures (producers: Oliver Schündler, Boris Ausserer) will be shot next year as an international co-production with Magma Productions, Ireland (producers: Ralph Christians, Clodagh Freeman), in Ireland. Discussions with a German broadcaster are ongoing.
The TV movie, along the lines of Frances Hodgson Burnett's children's book "Little Lord Fauntleroy", is set in the late 19th Century and tells the tale of eight-year-old Maranda Errol, growing up with her young widowed mother in Brooklyn. When it emerges that the fatherless child from a poor background is the granddaughter of the Countess of Dorincourt and her only heiress, family lawyer Havisham is sent to bring Maranda to England, where she will be educated as befits an aristocrat. Maranda meets the Countess, a troubled and unhappy old lady who is unloved and unable to love. But the little girl finds the key to her heart...
Yellow Bird Pictures is currently producing the two-parter "The Chinese Man", based on Henning Mankell's novel, for German broadcaster ARD, featuring in the leading roles Suzanne from Borsody, Michael Nyqvist and Claudia Michelsen.
Munich Yellow Bird Pictures GmbH, a joint venture between the Swedish Yellow Bird AB, Stockholm, and the managing partner Oliver Schündler, is a member of Zodiak Entertainment, Paris.
